Unbelievable. Maybe some dumb ass will buy it for that, maybe the same kinda guy that would buy such a nice guitar and after 30 years never play it. That's hard to believe too.

Obtained from Wikipedia:

"In 1974, Weir began working with Jeff Hasselberger at Ibanez to develop a custom instrument. Weir began playing the Ibanez 2681 during the recording of Blues for Allah; this was a testbed instrument with sliding pickups that Hasselberger used to develop several additional 2681s for use onstage, as well as Weir's custom "Cowboy Fancy" guitar, which he played from 1979 until the mid-1980s."

I bid $500...
Sure hope they don't take it! :-P

{{Update}} Aw... it was declined...

I wouldn't pay a third of that if Bob brought it over to my house personally.

I don't blame the guy for trying there's always some sucker out there with the money that just might jump on it. If i had the funds he'll why not. Dozin didn't you list your Bob Weir Blackknife on Ebay a couple of years back for somewhere around
$25000.00-$30000.00 range. I remember seeing it if i remember correctly. I very well could be wrong lots of dried up resin resting in my dome piece.

Dozin did list his BW Modulus on ebay but I dont think he really wanted to sell. I would buy that guitar from him in a second if he wanted to sell. I think he said he was "testing the market". Some folks do that often on guitar stuff that they dont know the true value. As far as the Ibanez is concerened, that guy is nuts, he probably doesnt even have the guitar!

I would take that BW Blackknife in a heartbeat myself although i know i could never afford it. I'm thinking this guy is doing precisley that jmod's. I think he's testing the market. Don't get me wrong if he really thinks he can fetch 40,000. for that guitar although beautiful he's nuts.

Yes, you're correct. It was more of a joke with someone else. I couldn't believe I received offers slightly lower than that. We're talking about a rare beast, I've only seen one other thrubody blackknife on eBay since eBay's existence. These 2681's are on eBay every week. Of course this particular one is mint but $40k,.. I don't think so
