I hope he is not planning to do another presidential political endorsement tour. I despise all politicians in general and I especially despise mixing politics and music.

Yes I am sure he was referring to the end of the world according to the mayan calendar but who know what he thinks about it.

Bobby sure doesn't appreciate when drummers overplay! Hah Hah....... 1st thing he mentioned when he was talking creating his brand.

Intersting comment by Bob. I saw Russo (Further Drummer) play with duo in San Fran back in 2005. Mike Gordon sat in with them. Russo was AMAZING. He seems a littel low in the Further mix. Maybe Its me. My point of view was directly on his kit at UMASS and he was all over his drumset but I couldn't hear it in the mix.

That's the third independant comment on the drum mix that I've heard/read and they are all the same...the drums are too low.

The same thing happens when I would see Dylan with Donny Heron (sp) on the pedal steel/fiddle/banjo. I could never hear him. It was never a problem with Larry Campbell, so I determined that Dylan wanted it that way.

Sometimes I've said to myself "what in hell is the sound man listening too?", but it may be by design I guess.

I believe it's better explained as "the end of time", or perhaps the concept of time.

I agree about the drum mix - I was only in Asheville but drums weren't very high in the mix. The only drum part that really stood out in the mix was in Strawberry Fields. hmmm . . .

I guess playing directly in front of the Rhythm Devils for a couple of decades shaped how he feels about LOUD drums..... I'll never get the image out of my mind of him kicking Jay Lanes bass drum as hard as he could at Westbury one year! Those who saw it were stunned.

I remember an interview with Jerry, where he alluded to the 2012 syndrome (i.e., as being the end of the world, or whatever) and that he bought into it. he was definitely into astrology. not to open a can of worms, but it never ceased to surprise me that, given his intellignece and talent, he would be so superstitious. still love the guy, tho. t

Jay missed a kick or some new little "hit" that Bob wanted in the tune and he lost his shit on Jay when he clammed it. Must've been PMSin that night.

FWIW, this business about 2012--more specifically 12-21-12 is horrendously misunderstood. The mayan calander ends on this date but they do not and never have foretold of the "end of the world"---they believe time is cyclical and is broken down in various spans---some short and others very long. 12-21-12 simply is the end of one cycle and the beginning of another according to the Mayan's beliefs. This particular span is one that covers roughly 26,000 years and the specific date does coincide with a number of confirmed (by our modern science) astrological occurances such as an alignment of various heavenly bodies, the earth's worble coming to completion (something to do with an uneven axis--almost like a leap year) and other things I cannot remember. If you're interested, I'd suggest an excellent book on the subject (rather dense though---not light reading) by Daniel Pinchbeck. Here's a link below.

Also, FWIW, the Mayn's had a more accurate calendar and ability to accurately quantify time than we do presently. Too bad Cortez slaughtered them.
