Bobby tunes with his iPhone

Saw him do it in person yesterday. Brilliant. I have to download that app.
Not on stage. He was playing a new sunburst Gibson L4 archtop (I think it was an L4) he had just received. It was out of tune, he pulls out the iPhone, the G was the culprit (it always is).

Did you see him plug it in or use the built in mic?
I know there are a lot of apps that you can tune using the on board mic. But Peterson has a version of Strobsoft for the iPhone/iPod that you can use a dongle to plug in. I would go this route just for the added accuracy but I also only have the iPod witch doesn't have a mic. So I guess I dont have a choice...lol

Gutar toolkit is a great app with a decent tuner, chord reference, metronome, etc.

Here's the proof, gentlemen
You can actually see me filming it on my own iphone in the mirror to the left. LOL
I think that's an L4. He called it his new "big mama" or something like that.

He wore the jeans and black shirt onstage. No capris at Radio City, you have to be more fashion conscious in NYC.
My best friend from high school, Steve Liesman, was interviewing him for CNBC in one of the dressing rooms and I got to tag along.
Steve, the lucky bastard, even got to play a few bars of Uncle John's Band with him on camera.

Whew...that was a close one! Thanks Vic.
By the way my buddy went last night and independantly said exactly what you said about the low drum mix. He's a keyboard player and he also said the piano / B3 were mixed great, but the Rhodces was lost.

Way cool. Radio City is a great place to see a show. Caught Dire Straits there.

That's for sure. I caught the Monday night show of the Dead's run in 1980. The lobby walls were all decked out in Grateful Dead photos. They had a real nice prgram which I still have. Way cool indeed.

That's so funny that you know Steve. He's a 'Bobby' player and we once tried to get together down here in NY.

He had Weir show him exactly how to play this little lick he's been wondering about in Dire Wolf, it was pretty funny. As soon as he asked, Weir knew immediately which one he was talking about.
Steve was my rhythm guitarist in my high school Dead band. He sits in with Playing Dead when Jim can't make gigs.
