gcx controller question

I was wondering if anyone has used a different controller for their GCX units other than the GC Pro or other Voodoo Labs. I would like to save a few bucks and get a rocktron midimate. That is a 7 pin config, and the GCX uses a 5 pin, but two are to power the controller.
Any experience with other controllers?

I have a Rocktrom Midimate. Its built rock solid and is capable of control as well as patch changes. I also have a 5 pin unit I run with it. You can get a cable that has 7 pins on one end for the Midimate and the other end has 5 pins plus a power adapter chord built in to run the Midimate, which is very convienient to eliminate a long power run.

Ground link! 8 buttons on the pedal, 8 loops on the GCX = no programming and me

I use the old ground control with mine and I havent programmed the pedals to say anything, I just know the order that they are in. It would wreak havoc for someone else though.

If cost is an issue, definitely go with the older Ground Control like JD said. You can find them for $100-$150 on craigslist and Ebay. Thats what I used with my GCX and it worked great.
