I have mentioned before that I do both Jer and Bob in different bands, and I have a few unique rigs and axes for each application. I am always mixing and matching stuff to try out different things and this brought me to last weekends gig (Bobby for me, with this band) . I have 2 main Weir rigs I use usually. 1 is a Boogie Mark 2a with a K-120 (great jer rig too) the other is a 16 space rack rig: Yamaha PG-1 Pre-amp with a QSC poweramp and three late 70's Ibanez rack units (UE400, UE405, AD202). My main weir axes these days are a Gibson ES-135 (70's bag) and a Casio PG-380' (80's-90's deal).I use flat wound 11's (wound G) on both those axes. With the Rack I have 2 HT style cabs to choose from...one is loaded with E120s the other with Cannabis Rex's . I usually use the CR's for Bobby but the JBL E's work too,they are just less forgiving.

Anyway, I just finished a Gator style guitar that I built fairly cheaply with a mighty mite neck,and an ash warmoth body. I have a hardtail in it (I glued some wood in the trem cavity) a brass bridge and an onboard stratoblaster that I made from the GGG circuit board. Came out really nice. I threw in a set of GFS 70's grey bottoms I had kicking around. Obviously this was made with Jer stuff in mind. I was gonna use it in my Jer band for the Keystone era stuff. Anyway like everyone else when something is new to me, I beat it into the ground. When I was playing it through My 68 Twin just screwing around to tweak the blaster, I started really digging some of the weir tones I was getting out of it. And it is rounds 10's, not flats on it (since I was originally and still will use it for jer predominantly).

So for last week I ended up with My Twin plugged into an HT style 2x12 loaded with E120's and a Gator style strat. Not your typical Weir rig, (actually pretty much a kick ass 72-73 jer rig).....my only Weir allowance was to bring along just my UE400 (along with my normal few floor stomps).

Anyway I think I pulled some Weir stuff out of it.This is the last 3rd of Estimated into the jam (before we went into cold rain). The only effect used is once the free form estimated jam starts (after my even cheesier than usual Bobby screams) is I kick the Flanger on the UE400.

Please excuse the Booby screams, I dont usually do that, I usually do readings of Estimated like 77's without the histrionics at the end, but it was a big crowd and I was feeling "peppy'. Also, once I did the first one there was a decent reaction which is not a good thing because it eggs me on

I'd sure like to know how you get the sound quality so high on the vid. I know it's not top of the line sound but instruments and vocals are clear ...there's some crowd but not really too much...I can't imagine that just off the mic on a cam-corder.

Actually it pretty much is the camera mic. it is an single akg that plugs right into the camera and sits on top of it. It came with the camera. I wish I had Vic's 16 channel firewire board so I could tweak and mix afterwards. That always helps so much. This audio has not been altered at all from initial capture from that single mic on the video camera.I actually should have sweetened it a little but it sounded decent as is so I left it alone. The camera was just sitting in a good spot right in front of the soundboard. The sound at Toads can be good if the right guy is at the board, and there is people to soak up the sound. When that room is half full it is very boomy, but when full it sounds real nice in there. Love having 8 separate monitor mixes!

Well, I'm impressed. I know what you mean...the sound quality on Vi'c's recordings is amazing but afterall...this is a video...Great job and keep sharing. Thanks.
