I havent seen any Wolf Guitars come up recently so i figured i would post it here. I am looking for a Wolf or Wolf like tribute guitar. I considered buying an Alembic but i would have to mod it pretty significantly, which would put the price over $10,000. So if anyone has or knows of someone wanting to unload a wolf, PM me.

try out phiga guitars. I know he is starting a new run of wolfs very soon. You can have your dream guitar for less than half of what you would pay for an Alembic.

Ok, I have had a few good recommendations. Has anyone played a Phiga? They look great, but how do they play/sound? I am putting alot of faith in the people on this board. If anyone is going to know who to go with it will be you guys.

You might concider talking to Andrew at AO Guitars "aoguitars.com" since he is one of a few that actually has had his hands inside the original. Real cool kat too.

I would talk to Matt Moriarity about a Wolf; he does a spot-on replica and it's less than the Alembic you are spec'ing. John Ruklick has one, and loves it. If I wanted a Wolf, I'd build with him. I don't think anyone gets closer. He had some build spots open recently.

My guitar is a Resurrection Tiger, it's a very nice instrument, but not without some issues -- bridge placement was incorrect and had to be moved, among others. Keir has a Phiga, which he just sold; he liked it but is having Resurrection make him a new one. Phiga has had some issues with frets, electronics and, to my eye, placement of switches, etc.

You might want to consider a Carvin DC series guitar. I took the plunge over a year ago and could not be happier. I gutted the factory electronics and had Tom Lieber put in the Jerry stuff. The tone is about as close as this mere mortal will ever get. It is a neck through with a koa body and ebony fingerboard with the CB2 buffer. From the factory it was about $1650. I put another $500 or so into it to bring it up to my specs. John K. plays one which is very similar. The fit and finish is flawless and it plays like butter. With the money you save vs. buying an Alembic you could get yourself one hellava rig or a Travis Bean. I posted a pic. I'm not sure if I did it correctly.

Is it just the angle, or are the two skunk stripes in the neck block offset toward the bass strings?

I want one too, so I started working in a wood shop and bought some maple and some purple heart and I am going to make one.

That is exactly what I would want out of a Carvin. Thanks for posting that pic, Im going to go that route for sure now that I saw yours. Excellent.

It's the angle. You'll notice that the strap lock is off too. I will send more pics of it soon.

Please do add some more pics of that awesome axe. For example, I'd appreciate a look at the headstock you chose for it!
