Late 70's...

Early Ibanez AR500 with Super 80's (use bridge pup in phase reversal with EQ on) -> Ibanez FL305 -> loud clean amp.

That plus technique is all you need.

Seems like it would work for a decent "Bobby" guitar (phase-switch, active EQ).

I don't use any "Bobby" gear anymore. Had good chunks and it got me nowhere.

Today my rigs vary from show to show but I'll say these are some of my key components:
Dual coil guitar w/ability to split to parallel and out of phase
Being able to work the bridge pickup well without being ice-picky
Need something swirly. I prefer a Maxon PH350 but also use Flanger on my UE700/M13/ElevenRack
Be a master of timing and know when to be on and off the beat
Know your chords, the notes played, the order of the notes played, what the bass is doing and what the keys is doing
Work your volume. Bobby comes up and down in mixes all the time. Lately I've used a studio comp/limiter with good results others use pedals.

Checked out the stuff on archive...Nice job. Any band that takes on a tune like Music Never Stopped has to be pretty damn tight. Thought it all sounded really good. Keep up the good work!

Actually, we practiced screwing up the transition so we could be an authentic Dead cover band!
