Cool Fools-latest rehearsal/best quality recording

I'm mainly noting this cause it's the best recording, quality wise, we've had yet I'd say. In moving the mics we lost a bit of the keys and got the best vocals yet - for better or for worse!

Playing was decent. I might have been a bit too prominent in the mix at times - oh well.

Whole thing here

Of course this includes, besides myself, other board members mkaufman on rhythm guitar and hgregs on bass.

ftr I think (for my part anyway) I'm slowly zeroing in on a decent envelope setting(s) with my Emma. The above FLAS and this

Shakedown represent my latest preferences - had a hard time 'rounding out' (as deadguise termed it) the sound w/o losing the high end. I've tweaked quite a bit and while I'm not totally satisfied I'm getting there. Anyone interested in my settings let me know.

Hey Pat - Thanks so much for checking it out! We're slowly getting better, and I'm starting to like my sound more and more - which I think is huge as I do believe I (anyone for that matter) play better when I'm more comfortable with the sound/tone.

Do you mean the E, E7, A, C thing at the end of tmns? - If so I was doing it, trying to rip out the chords - the recording isn't the greatest so maybe it's not that audible. Thanks again though! That was definitely our best tmns to date.

Shakedown is working at the moment for me but I'll keep an eye on it.

All of our stuff is here, ftr

here is the same Shakedown as is on the myspace page

My bad pat - The tmns on our myspace page is the one I was thinking of - You're probably right on the end of the one posted in the rehearsal above - I wasn't particularly 'feeling it' in this latest version and kinda flubbed the chord work in the end a bit - though I thought my pickin leading up to the end had a nice vibe.

Hey Bill
Nice going, I'm gonna have to head to my old stomping ground in Connecticut and catch a show. Have you sold out your tour yet? Your singing gets better and better in fact I think your sounding like John K from DSO on the stuff you just posted. Your playing as always been top notch and continues to get tighter but the biggest diff I'm hearing is the other guys in the band have really gotten much better then on the basement vids you posted awhile back. My only comment on the recording would be to turn up the vocals abit in the mix and don't be afraid to belt it out. You have a good voice and if you get the vocals down you guys will be playing in bars that smell less. Good luck and stay away from the smack.

Hey ronster
You never fail to bring a smile to my face - in more ways than one.
While this was the best mix of the vocals so far, you're right, they're still a little low. Thanks for kind words re my vocals, I'm feeling more and more comfortable with it - shaking off a whole lot of rust and finally paying proper attention to the issue. As for comparison to the basement band vids, this (aside from me of course) is a whole different group of guys. All more local (the basement vid guys are about 75 minutes away) which is key. That being said we're all getting more used to one another, tightening up the product and me and mike are really trying to work on the vocals. Ken coming in on keys has been huge. Wish he could sing

Hopefully we'll end up with some kind of recording that we'll post. We're shooting for a Thanksgiving eve gig so if you happen to be up for the holiday visiting family (if you have any around here anymore - who you'd still actually want to visit  ) maybe that'll work.

Bill
