Just got the new Levon Helm CD and the first song is a cover of Tennessee Jed! I love Levon's voice, and this is a great choice for him to cover. Check it out, if you get a chance!!

That's cool. I heard 2 tracks off Dirt farmer and liked them both. Worth seeking out?
Did you know that he has a weekly gig ( I think) at a small place in the rurals of upstate NY where he has fairly well-known musicians join him on a ever-changing basis? Anyone ever catch one of those shows?

My buddy has been up to Levon's place twice for the Ramble, as they call it. He says both times were absolutely amazing "special" experiences.
Basically it's like $150 a person or something, you end up driving right into his driveway of his house in Woodstock, NY. There is a community table in one room downstairs where all the people bring food to share with others, booze, beer, etc. Bring your own, share with others, all good. You can smoke outside, bowls, whatever.
As for the music, he says there is usually an opening act, sometimes it's his daughter Amy's band, other times big acts like MMW. Levon's band is a stud lineup with guys like Jimmy Vivino or Larry Campbell playing. The music is stuff from The Band, Levon's tunes, classic rock tunes, everything. It is very intimate, about 200-225 people in folding chairs.
Highly worth the road trip (depending on where you live) and the money from what my boy says.
