so sorry about the bad photo but I've been checking a phish related blog and it turns out that Mike Gordon played with Billy K last night in NYC and from this shitty photo it looks like he was playing asymmetrical horned Irwinish bass looks like it has a sunburst finish but from this photo it's hard to tell.

Interesting. Phil's Irwin was just plain cocobolo, and had cream-colored DiMarzios on it. Looks like this one has black pickups.

Alembic has made a couple of "Tribute 5" basses; a guy I know in NY has one. I wonder ...

That guy makes a "Goddess" guitar that has the Irwin-like horns on it.

He was in classic Mike attire last night at Jones Beach. Horrid purple and black shirt and the epic purple pants.

Played a mean bass though. And ripped the vox on Drowned.

Yeah, I think Mike's goal is to look as silly as possible most of the time. And why not?

Sorry to bump the thread, but I was searching for something about Phil's rig and knew the answer to this.


Mike got that sweet ass, yet hideous, bass from Page the night before. There's other pictures of it and it only gets worse with better quality. Don't know if he ever busted it out in the summer tour.
