It is closing down. Here is the statement from their site
It's a sad day to be sure, but we are left with little choice. The Moose has been sent cease and desist notification by an established company (bullmoose.com), and with declining traffic, revenue numbers, and fresh lessons we're just not in a position to fight. As such, the Moose will be shutting down for good as of June 01, 2009.

Really too bad. Great grass roots site. Did you check out that bullmoose site? Over hyped, commercial crap strikes again. Experiencing something similar with my business.

I did see it and it is crap. And I don't see how it really competed with music moose or why the controversy.

My guess is because of the retail aspect. It's just corporate bullyism. Can't interfere with the pursuit of the 'mighty buck'. I don't see the conflict either. In one case with my business, it turned out ok because inspite of a similar name, the products we were selling were different. With the other case, we took the shaft.

A great site of lessons for banjo, guitar, fiddle, mando. Sold some strings and t-shirts to cover cost. Think it was done down in Fl. but they prob. had guys send in some of the lessons. Looked like a great bunch of guys. I wanted a t-shirt and can kick myself now for not stepping up and supporting them. Lesson learned. The cease and desist was obviously more than they could handle.

If you go to the "guitar instruction" section of rukind you will see that it is the first link there. That is how I knew about them.

Man, what is with this? (never went to Music Moose, but now I whish I had). It's like the new trend is for a corporation to trademark a name - in this case Moose. Don't know if anyone knows about the Monster Cables lawsuit - there'se this company called Monster Cables who makes CPU wires and home entertainment stuff - they attempt to sue any company that has monster in the name, but is not even in the same industry, ie Monster Mini-Golf. You'd think times being what they are, companies would be spending their $$$ in trying to get new products, research into possible cost savings. Anything other than $600/hour legal fees.....but as a wise man once said - 'We live in a litigious society, dude'.
Also, I'm looking forward to the day when the internet has been consolidated down to a handful of websites, because no-one will be able to have domain that are even close to similar. And the internet will be regarded somewhat like cable TV - it looked good on paper but was ultimately turned into an ad/selling machine by corporate America.
