Jerry's deep impact

Hey gang,
Two years ago Stanley and I engaged Rick Turner to utilize his shop and CNC equipment to manufacture our most recent limited run of Spellbinder II Basses. Ricks shop is in Santa Cruz south of San Francisco. After completing our business Stanley and I traveled up to Northern California where I hadn’t been in 3o years. I dropped Stanley off in San Francisco and then proceeded to Mill Valley.
My wife and I got together one evening with our friends Pete and Jeanette Sears. We remained friends throughout the many years, seen one another on the road often, spoken on the phone etc… But never hooked up in the old stomping grounds. A few nights later Pete was performing with the David Nelson Band at the Iron Springs Brewery in Fairfax. That evening had a profound impact on my perception; it was as if time had stood still all these years. The music, the people, the vibe remained the same. Yet 30 years had blown by! Taking a closer visual, I realized that things had changed but only in the guise that this audience was multi generational. And the vibe though the same, it was not the same.
It was the same but there was a distinct longing for Jerry. I sensed in conversation, I sensed it in the music and there was the appearance of it on everyone’s face.
I have always been a musician first, luthier second. The song’s that are gifted to me are just that, a gift. I make no claim to them, they are of us all. Several days after Pete’s gig a song welled up from the core. It is a song for Jerry’s children (lovers of him and his music), it is a song of healing! Titiled “So Boy” performed on Mando Piccolo Bass
