Anyone have any new music they want to recommend? I started snowboarding this season and my ipod is always looking for something fresh for the powder.
Currently, my newest fav are The Pogues. I grew up in the 80s and, somehow, I totally missed this band. I suck. These guys are fucking awesome. I would strongly recommend everyone pick up a copy of Red Roses for Me. Good introduction.
So what else are people listening to?

as far as somewhat "new music" i could suggest:
Ben Harper
Derek Trucks' new album
Susan Tedeschi's new album
Galactic
Grace Potter
Jackie Greene
Jimmy Herring's new album
JJ Grey & Mofro
Joe Bonamassa
John Butler Trio
Karl Denson (Tiny Universe)
Lettuce
Marc Ford (great new album, Neptune Blues Club)
The New Mastersounds
North Mississippi Allstars
Papa Grows Funk
Papa Mali
The Raconteurs
Robert Plant & Alison Krauss
Robert Randolph
Robert Walter
Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings
Stockholm Syndrome
Will Bernard
well not all of it is excactly "new" but it's not old.
Check out Neil Young's new tune it's hilarious

Has anyone here seen this guy? Ben Sollee? Check out how he plays the cello. Two links, same tune. The first, the sound quality isn't so great, but you can see his style. The second is the commercially released vid.
I am really diggin the North Mississippi Allstars latest cd/dvd "Doing it like we used to do" real good stuff spanning their years so far. It also has a cool documentry dvd telling how the band got their start and came together.

strongly recommend the pixies, especially if you were there in the eighties. probably the best overlooked band ever. i found them when i was 14 in 95 and ive never gotten sick of them. also the Clash have a broad range of really good music. North Mississppi all stars are also great. oh and Ween is fantastik too.
