I've been given a couple of JBL 15s, model 2220A. :hail:

I'm told that Phil's speakers in the Wall of Sound were D140s... I haven't found much info on how the 2220A compares but I did figure out from JBL's site that they both have Alnico magnets so I have some hope. They probably need a recone with the right ribbed cone and an aluminum center dome but I have a good local speaker shop who could handle that.

I did find the T/S specs for the 2220A vs. D130 and 130A, and they look like I might be in business.

Brand Model X Vas Qts Fs Sens Pmax Xmax Production Mod
JBL D130 148 297.3 0.25 40 100 75 0.76 Discontinued Mod.
JBL 130A 195 297.4 0.18 37 101 100 2.03 Discontinued Mod.
JBL 2220A 195 297.3 0.18 37 101 100 2.03 Discontinued Mod.

Does anyone have any good resources for bass cabinet design? I might have a line on the original specs for Phil's cabs from the WOS but it looks like it could be too large of cab to be practical. I've found some on the bass forums but it's a little overwhelming.

Time to resurrect this project. (pun intended) Forgive me for thinking out loud a little...

I'm thinking of going with a sealed cab over ported. Sealed gives less low end but flatter response and better transients - i.e. the thump at the beginning of the note that makes people dance. (man, I am not a tech-head)

According to WinIMP I need a box that's 20.6 Liters

approx 11" W
17.5" H
6.5" D

Hmm... that doesn't seem right for a 15" speaker. Off to go get some help...
