I see a lot of folks on here run a Phase 100. Which songs do you like to use it on, and do you use it just for rhythm, or also for leads? Which do you think are the nicest settings for the things you do?

Was listening to a 91 show - buckeye lake yesterday on XM.
Jerry was using it on his solo for Deal
then in the nassua run on brents far from me you hear the it again!
on that cut, however, it sounds like either he is overdriving the pedal with full chords or has some OD pedal before it.

I believe Jerry used it on Candyman aswell. I was listening to a 87 Show believe it was Alpine Valley could be wrong but he had the Phase going on in the Candyman.3
I can't tell you my setting on my 100 because i'm sitting at work.

I use it on Candyman, breaks on Lazy Lightning, Waiting for a Miracle, Far From Me and the solo on Comes a Time (both with overdrive), Victim or the Crime (overdrive, too, only play that one under duress ... LOL), can be fun on Not Fade Away if you want a 79-80 vibe, some of the breaks on Music Never Stopped, including the first half of the jam at the end ... I actually use it a lot more than I thought I would.

Far From Me!! again with the overdrive, a tone I really happen to like. Jerry used the phase all over the place I think he's running it throughout the entirety of Sugaree (on the Kean College CD's from the JGB '80 winter tour) and it really adds a nice warm tone to the song. But yea the Phase is all over the early Brent years (what I like to think of as the Doobie Brothers era) and frankly sometimes it was a little much.

I use two different settings on mine. For a slower sweep and kind of a nice mellow phase like the Sugaree mentioned above I like the Intensity all the way to the left and the Speed at about 10:30. For the classic Candyman/Believe it or Not, Intensity: Full Right Speed: 4 O’clock

And, of course, the followup question ... phase before or after the overdrive?

Almost anywhere (if a Mutron Phasor II user may post). I don't combine it with envelope very often, but it can be a nice switch up in the midst of some FOTM or Shakedown jamming, to switch off the envelope and go to phase + OD for a pass or two. Lots of JGB stuff, like Waiting For A Miracle or Dear Prudence to give just a couple more obvious examples.

I just got my Maxon PH350 in the mail. Man it sounds good! I highly recommend!!!

Mine's after also - I really like that. With both of them on it almost gets a wah type of sound - really cool

Jerry used it a lot with JGB - things like Waiting for a miracle - all sorts. I just recently switched to a Maxon ph350 and like it enormously. You can turn the depth down so that it is just affecting the sound a little - adds a really nice touch to a lot of songs. Sounds great set like that for Music Never Stopped, Lazy Lightning, Crazy Fingers - lots of stuff

I definitely liked it on Crazy Fingers when I heard him use it.

The times I checked, he had the mode knob set to the second from the right position. Jerry liked to put the phaser after distortion, but personally for a different sound, I prefer it before the dirt. But Jerry had that very distinctive sound went he would phase his distortion by putting it after.

I picked up a Phase 90 a few months back on impulse without investigating and it is just too much for me. I'll see how it goes with the 100. Love it, so far.
