imho, Your only choice is the Reissue Twin Reverb.
At 22W the Reissue Deluxe won't keep up.
fwiw, The Reissue Princeton looks nice for a practice amp.
Uhhh, I think I would buy the extended GC warranty.
Remember they have that 30-Day free rental program on most items (does that include tube amps?).

Custom Shop '64 Vibroverb looks pretty good. Vibrolux doesn't look too bad either, but I dont know about the Jensens.

I'd like to play around with the Super Champ XD.

Most all of the Fender all tube amps are going to give you a nice warm sound. I use a twin but I'll tell you it is damn heavy. Lugging that thing around is no picnic. Even for you young whipersnapers! Plus with a tube amp you will have to add in an extra expense for replacement tubes.

I have been thinking about going with a solid state amp but I just cant seem to bring myself to do it.

This is what I use and except for the fact that it is in the shop now I love it.

I have played this 57 Twin and it sounds great. Even though it is 40 watts, it has plenty of volume and head room. http://www.guitarcenter.com/Fender--57- ... 1145454.gc

I havent tried the 64 Vibroverb

Are you simply curious or actually shopping for one? If you are actually shopping more tell us about your particulars and that will help narrow down the search. I wanted some really good volume because at the time I wasn't micing the amp to the PA. And I still dont during a rehearsal or jam session. Plus there is a switch to knock it down to 25 watts which is more than ample most all of the time.

Whats up with the lighter 40 watt twin costing 24 bills and the 100 watt twin going about half that? One would think it would be the other way around. Is it just greater demand for a lighter amp or does it have some nano technology that hasn't been invented yet?

I like my Vibro Champ, but If I could I'd trade it in for a Super Champ.

Maybe for an original 82-86 Super Champ, but the new XD? I'll bet your VC kicks its butt.

I was going to go with the Twin, but it's too heavy and too much for what I do. The Deluxe is the way to go. Pete, why do you say it won't keep up? Mine cranks and in any bar setting, party, etc., it's plenty powerful.

Question: Why are we limiting ourselves to current production models? And why GC? I smell a discount... :D

That's cool.
I have no problem with the Reissue Deluxe other than the power rating vs desired Clean Headroom (I play both Guitar and Pedal Steel through these amps, and I can't get my sound without clean headroom).
I know a coupla local Tele players who love their RI Deluxes, and they sounded good to me too.
Alot of Tele players playing through Deluxes (of all flavors) that I've heard over the years have a very Jerry tone and haven't ever even listened to Garcia.
I had a '79 SF Deluxe for a few years, and gigged with it on a fair amount of mic'd gigs.

[edit] The difference in weight, Deluxe vs Twin (reissues), is 22lbs.
