John Kahn's 1958 P-Bass!! $18,000 is in the ballpark of what a '58 would be worth without any rock star association! Maybe that's just starting bid.

I don't think Mulder would appreciate his partner getting auctioned off....

I don't understand, did this auction take place already, on Oct 5th? The article is unclear. If someone walked away with that bass for only 18G they pulled off the memorabilia coup of the millenium.

The auction was a couple months ago.
Rock had a few things up for sale that I would have loved to have. One was a small aluminum briefcase that was full odds and ends for Jerry. Smokes, single strings, picks, lighters. It was covered in stickers and passes.
He also put up for sale his travel case w/portable speakers and tape deck that he used in the hotel suite to play music after shows and on off days. It was a state of the art setup at the time.
The last time I saw Rock was sometime in the early 90's and he was hosting a garage sale at his moms house. I wish he would have had some of this stuff out at that time. Might have been able to pick it up cheap...

I don't know if it's that well-known in the GD community at large but Rock lost his son Luke in the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami.

It is also interesting to note that Rock's ex-wife, Nicki (Luke's mother) lives in Oregon and teaches healing arts.
