When a '70's Artist (pre-Musician) has a serial number beginning with "B," does that mean it's a "second?"

As I recall the letter at the beginning of the serial # refers to the month the guitar was made: A - January, B - February, etc.

Excellent link, thanks, T-J!

P.S. Are they all 9-11 lbs. heavy?

First letter designates month, then the next two numbers designate year.

ie: B78 - Feb '78.

Those vintage Ibby's are great guitars...lots to choose from.
