Greetings from Canada, Deadheads!
My name is Duncan and I live on Saltspring Island, British Columbia. I am 24 years old and listen mostly to music that was produced long before my birth.
Some of my favorite artists and musical influences include the Dead (of course), Zeppelin, Floyd, the Allmans, and various other "classic rock" bands; as well as blues players like Fred McDowell, Bob Brozman (not all my faves are old or dead), Elmore James, etc. I also enjoy much "world music," especially Indian and middle eastern classical and folk musics.
My instrument of choise is the guitar, I own a Dillion electric (tuned to open-E for a couple months now) and a Seagull 12-stringer (was in open-G for months, now in standard 1/2 step flat). I have also been known to noodle on pianos, traps (drums), djembe (another drum), banjos, xylophones, glockenspeils, beer bottles, table tops... in short anything that makes music.
I have not yet played in a formal band but do enjoy jamming with my friends. In the summer time you can always find a jam in Saltspring's parks downtown. I sing, though have only written one song and added lyrics to a few of my favorite covers.
I joined this forum 'cause I love the Dead, and have been impressed by the scope of the members knowledge.
This intro is starting to get a little long, so I'll stop now. Have a good one, Duncan.
