I know they have been there before, but none quite as tied to the boys as Al. Hope he'll shake it up a bit...

Patrick Leahy is a huge Deadhead. Had a local Dead cover band play for his office party last year!

I dont think the republicans will let Al take his senate seat without more of a fight.

I didnt know about Leahy.

2 dead head senators - 98 to go!

I got to believe that the world may be a better place if they were all dead heads! ( either that or complete anarchy! )

I'm proud of my former state... first a pro wrestler as governor, now Stuart Smalley as Senator.

Ya think with a vote total greater than registered voters?

Oh, yes, the world would be sweeter with deadheads in charge!

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that Al Gore considered the Dead his favorite band, and asked them to play at some official event... his nomination or something? So you could say we almost had the white house.

Al definitely wore a lot of Garcia ties, but Tipper was the real Head. I seem to remember stories of her having a drum kit and jamming along to the Boyz.

Hard to square that with her PMRC activities... but schitzophrenia was one of her pet projects as well...

I think the more we know of political deadheads we should be reminded that it IS about the music.

There are deadhead Reps, Dems, Libertarians, Greenies, Fascists, Socialists, Communists, and Bunker building extreme Righties.

IMO, it means nothing more than good taste in music. It's not indicative of being a good leader or anything else.

at RFK one summer, there was a couple (dude and lass) taking very loudly about Al and Tipper's daily schedule, they were dressed in buisness attire most likley staff members who were painfuly out of place, down near the stage during the first set. I saw many heads dancing in to them and trying to run them off. The gaul of some folks I tell ya...

Seems like I remeberhearing Al and Tipper were at a show one of those summers during the Bill years, not sure if it was the same one though

:hail: Nail. Head.

We should also remember that many politicians will do anything to appeal to any group who they think will get votes for them. A lot of people think that those of us who like the Dead are just stoned-out morons who can be easily manipulated. Let's not be.
