Man that sucks --- took a backseat to Jimi, but definately one of the great drummers of all time.

Heard this on the local radio sta. early last night. The Remember Hendrix Tour had wrapped up here in PDX last Sat night; and apparently Mitch decided to stay a few more nights in town... needless to say I am not forgiving myself for having skipped the show.

MM was a true badass of the drums, a real fusion pioneer. JH wouldn't have made the quite impact that he did with Are You Experienced? , had he a more pedestrian drummer with him.

Loved his style. Quick and clean. Could kick the living hell outa those skins and also play delicately and sweet. Listen to Up from the Skies and Wait until Tomarrow from Axis: Bold as Love. Sometimes when The Dead just had Billy his style reminded me of Mitch's. Rip Mitch-You will be missed

Good point Frankie, always thought Mitch and Billy were guys who understood how to work a snare properly. I'm sure they were listening to the same cats.

Both of them kind of brought jazz sensibilities to the rock landscape.
