Apologies for being dense but I am having some difficulties with the new forum version and wanted to ask some questions. I am likely an old dog who just never learned new (user) tricks.

Not being a user of forums other than this, I only know what the old version presented. I post only occasionally, for numerous reasons, but with the new version I notice some large differences from the old format when logged in as a forum registered user. I have reviewed the faq and I don't specifically find info addressing what I am curious about.

For starters, when I log in I cannot easily get to the active post or the recent posts. I have to navigate to the overall forum view and then navigate to the various other views. When I logged in on the old version, I got that view and I have found no way to set it in the new version.

Another, and much more important thing, is that when I view the active posts anonymously, I see the entire post, but when I log in I only get the last one or two posts of any thread. I have tried every setting I can find but cannot change this behaviour. With the old version I could see the entire thread whether logged in or not. If I put a reply in, I need to see the origination of the thread as well as other posts along the way so as to comment appropriately.

I apologize for being a lousy user. I hope some KIND folks out there can help me adjust the function of the board so as to help me with these problems... otherwise, the board is read-only for me cause I can't use it, which may be good or bad for the community, however you see it.

ok. haha on me. Sorry for the second query about only seeing one or two recent replies to a topic when logged in. There was a bug in the browser I was using (thanks for that Mr Murray, a non-dead person) and the drop down boxes in the profiles did not work correctly. I now see the drop down boxes and have adjusted accordingly. But maybe I should just boot experimental stuff and just use Firefox.

If anyone knows about the first query about navigating, that would be a nice to have.

Otherwise, moderator, feel free to delete this topic and save bit space...

Are you talking about the page with the links titled "Most Active Posts" and "View postings since login"? That's on the main page http://www.rukind.com/

I'm not 100% sure what you're looking for, so I'll just tell you how I browse this forum. I use a browser with tabs (Firefox). I have the main page bookmarked. Then I open up a tab with the "View postings since login" link. If I'm logged in already, then I'm good to go. If I'm not logged in from a previous visit, I do it on that page. Now that I'm logged in, I can click on the "View postings since login" button again on the 1st tab and I can view the newest posts. I usually keep the first tab open on the main page while I browse the forum on the 2nd in case I want to look up a tab.

In terms of an easy way to get to the most active posts, there are a few ways.

I have been using the link at the top left side of the page, "view active posts". There is also a link to the newest posts.

It is also back on the main page of the site.

Hey thanks for chipping in folks. Good ideas. I have noticed slightly different behaviour upon login now. A couple weeks ago, I would log in and it would take me to a page that said I was logged in and would just sit there. Now that same page comes up but it auto-magically moves on after a few seconds and goes to the forum topics where I can just click the active or new posts link.

Another query.

It seems that user uploaded avatars are not in the correct proportion, they are stretched horizontally.. Is that something that can be corrected? I am a long way from getting a selectable avatar but thought I would ask.

Also, as a suggestion, can the color of the front page links and the side links menu be adjusted to be more like the color of the banner at the top of the page? either blue hue would do. Just would make things look more coordinated.
