Not a name we see a lot around here. I got his latest release last night, Play, which is supposed to be his "guitar" album. And it is! The guy can flat out play the Telecaster like the best of them but he also a very versatile player. If you like that style of guitar playing, you may want to take a listen. This is one smoking album and his guests are great. There are a few of his more traditional, sappy-style C&W tunes on Play but they are not bad. I started listening to Brad about 4-5 years ago when he was on Austin City Limits and was blown away. I believe he will be on David Letterman tomorrow night, so if you've never seen or heard of him, you may want to take a peek.

Brad is an AMAZING player. I am a big fan of his playing only. His songs, singing, stage performance etc I am not a big fan of. In that realm he is like many other country starts. But his playing really sets him apart from the rest of the pack.

Whenever I tell people about him they look at me like I have 2 heads. But I believe anybody who can appreciate good guitar playing would enjoy listening or at least appreciate it.

I have catered for him twice when he played here in town. Very nice guy.
His guitar playing is incredible.
I am not a big country fan but seeing him live was great. One of those live moments that I am glad I saw.

I'm a huge fan of his playing. He did an in-store session at Sam Ash in Manhattan a few years back and it was just flat out jaw dropping. He's got that Bill Kirchen thing going for him. FWIW, Paisley used an off the wall Epiphone SG among many different guitars. He also played a Danelectro Baritone guitar and just blew everyone away with that as well. Very cool guy as well. I remember he had on the shiniest most ridiculous, studded and spurred cowboy boots you've ever seen. One of them was signed by Jimmy Page and he said he never takes them off.

Oh Yeah... Paisly rips. Vince Gill and Glen Campbell are a coupla other guys not usually associated with lead guitar playing who also rip.
That Tele sound, chickin' pickin' or otherwise, has always been very Jerry-esque to my ear.

I don't think Paisley's vocals are all that bad and some of his lyrics are actully pretty amusing. For a commercial C&W guy, his vocals and lyrics are a lot more "country" than others out there today and I think he is far more authentic than most of the pop C&W acts.

Pete, agree with you on the Glen Campbell point - great picker (and I believe he played bass on some Beach Boys records too). Coincidentally, I've told my wife (native Texan) on a few occassions that I think Paisley's singing style is a lot like Glen Campbell's. There is a sing-songy element to Paisley's style that reminds me Campbell singing "Southern Nights" and some of his other radio hits from the 70s.

I’m coming out of the closet too…he is great! I read a pleasant article once about him and his gear. He is a gear FREAK! His Bill Crook Teles are pretty tasty as well...

Pete, Nice. I have an Agile Gold Top LP with p90s. I swapped the ceramic p90s for a pair of Lollar's. It is my favorite guitar.
