What a great ballpark with some many historic events that occured there. I spent many summer taking a day trip from upstate NY to Yankee Stadium to see a game. The one game that I was in attendance at that will always stick out in my mind in the Pinetar game with George Brett and the Royals. What a crazy turn of events and the ultimate chaning of a rule. Yankee Stadium you will be missed!

It's really too bad that they are tearing it down. I'm not a huge sports guy, but it just does not seem right. A bit more history downed by keeping up with the times. The Yankees will never be same.
What is left of the old gaurd now days? Fenway, Wrigley (sp?) are there any more?

I think it wont be long before people think " Why the hell did we tear the old Stadium down ?".
Seems like a waste of history and materials.

The revenue projections for a new facility must be convincing.

I saw my first pro ball game there as a child. It was the Yankees vs. the Twins (exhibition game?). My uncle took me and my cousins, We were pretty little, maybe 7 or 8. We left during the 14th inning. To this day, I have no idea who won. Had to have been early 1960s.

I used to walk there with my dad and brother from our apartment in the bronx. (until we moved to jersey)

I was born a sox fan and I'll die a sox fan. I agree that Yankee stadium is too full of history to tear down. If I remember correctly they were going to try and tear down Fenway but everyone protested so they didn't. I just wish they would put in some more comfortable seats instead of those tiny original ones.

First baseball game I ever saw was at Yankee Stadium (against the Red Sox; Mickey Mantle hit a home run and Carl Yastremski hit a home run, my dad took me) I think the Red Sox may have won, because I was consoled by having seen two greats hit home runs.

The last game I saw was at Yankee Stadium. Can't remember who they played against but they lost.

In fact, every baseball game I've ever seen was at Yankee stadium.

Don't know if I'll ever go to another. But I try...(crazy rhythm caliope music filters in)

I'm a Mets fan myself but have been to a few Yankee games (first ballgame ever was old timer's day back in '91). THe last days of Shea are def lost these days with the passing of Yankee Stadium. And lets not forget... this is the last year of Giant's stadium too.

They re-did the park back in '76, and they should have done something similar to what they did at Soldier field. Keep the field/fasad (sp?), but rip out the insides and rebuild. Get your luxury boxes, wider seats, new concourses, etc, but keep the field and history.

I hate to see the old buildings go. For nostalgia, I"m glad they keep the spectrum around. 53 shows, Broad st bullies, Dr J.. and can we forget Rocky. All that will be left is Wrigley, Fenway, and Chavez Ravien (yea, my spelling sucks).
