I have been playing the major penatonic/minor penatonic scales forever now. Every once in a while ill throw some major scale notes in there, but im kinda stuck, i need more notes to hit. Anyone have any suggestions on what scales are pretty easy to use and learn?

Scales are great and all I use them often but you should try just finding the notes you hear in your head by ear. Searh for them a bit your ear will become much better and your soloing will just begin to flow . This worked for me well, i was always trying to find the right note and scale and drove myself crazy. I was suggested trying this and i'm a better player for it. Just a suggestion give it s shot.

The above advice is golden. Scales and stuff are great but you have to listen to yourself. At first it will be discouraging and unclear but eventually you will find what you are looking for.

As for now the most important thing is linking all the scalar positions. Be able to start with major pentatonic, link it to the mixolydian mode, throw in a few major notes and then find your way to the minor pentatonic. This way you will never run out of notes to play.

And at that point you need to start thinking melody and not scales.

do you know major/minor modes yet? theyve always been a nice sounding alternative to pentatonics to me, and are very useful jam tools

not that the other advice wasnt great, im just giving you some ideas if youre set on new scales
