Anybody have any tips on how to lessen that awful squeal from sliding up and down the fret board.

There used to be (I assume it or a similar product still exists) a silicone (?) based spray that you'd spray on your strings. Worked well. I need some myself. Just check out my Black Peter vid. tehe

Y'know call me crazy but I've always liked that squeeky scratchy sound on an acoustic. I dunno it's kinda hard to describe but to me it's always made the music more immediate. Almost like the person is right next to you. Personal preference I guess.

Totally Bill. And that's actually one of my fantasies...to be in the same room as the great and powerful billbbill.....er ehm..yeah

I've used finger ease and fast fret in the past. Now I'm worried, this is only slightly related but I just read on a review of a phono cartridge I bought that the reviewer could always tell when someone used disc washer fluid because a fresh needle digs out the residue left by it. I believed firmly in Discwasher fluid for many years just to find out it is hurting my vinyl. Shheeeshh!

Dont huff it - whatever you do !

Two thoughts:

1. Play harder; sweat is a good finger lube.

2. Go to a gun shop and buy one of the silicone impregnated cloths they all sell for wiping down guns to get sweat, fingerprints, etc. off of them. Throw it in your guitar case. A quick wipe before playing will lube the strings very slightly (enough to eliminate squeek) and another quick wipe after you are done playing will keep the guitar nicely free of dirt and corrosion from moisture and body oils.

What I use when its humid, Finger ease on the board and the fingers & Baby powder on the palm, shake a little on a small cloth and keep it on the
amp -
works great.

I know this is easier said than done, but try lightening up on the finger pressure to the point that only your guide finger is just barely touching the string - hopefully one of the treble strings. The fingers over the bass strings, where the squeaking is worse, are not actually touching the strings as you slide.
