Hi all I am interested in getting a looping pedal don’t know a whole lot about them. Can anyone offer any insight on what’s out there pro/cons etc.. I am mainly looking to use it at home for practicing, recording.Thanks

I just picked up the jam man. Just scratching the surface but a friend swears by it and the user reviews at harmonycentral.com were pretty good. There are a bunch of models out there and a bunch are reviewed at harmony central.

The jam man was $300. So far it seems pretty cool but I just got it.

I have the jam man, too, as recommended by a few members here. But it is only a few months old, I actally put it back in its box, waiting for the weather to warm up so that I can leave my acoustic out all the time with the pick up installed to then use my new amp, new pickup, new jam man, and jam man footswitch.

But I was able to give things a go when it was brand new around Christmas. There's a lot to take advantage of that I haven't explored yet. For example, it is conceivable that you could go to archive dot com, pull up a show, download a track to your computer that you're interested in, and load that into the jam man if you have boughten an expanded memory card for the jam man. Then you can slow down the track and really learn the riffs to your hearts content.

Aside from that, it is just like the boss looper, except that the jam man has a LED for the track you're on, which is easier to see from standing height, and technically, with careful programming you could use the footswitch to work out a whole song including the changes.

Damn, I wish I was twenty years younger, when I still had tons of energy and motivation, so that I could really get into the learning capability of this looper.

At least Spring is almost fully here and I'll get everything out and start working things over.

I was all set to get the Boss looper, but Blob Weird, or someone, talked me out of it in favor of the jam man, and it was good advice.

Practice your right hand technique, that's where the talent is.

i'm using the boss rc2...haven't quite figurred it out yet...seems to be pretty good. you are able to input mp3, cd etc...to jam with.

lots of options. if i was to do it again i might go with the larger versions that have multiple pedals, it seems easier that way.

I have a Boss20XL, and I like it a lot. I have used a JamMan too, and it pretty much functions the same but has a few advantages.

1, More tracks/memory
2. More options for drum beat
3. USB your loops to computer

It's slightly more expensive, but in my opinion the extra cost is well worth the features. In retrospect I would've gotten the JamMan.

Yeah I have a JamMan too. Very solid pedal, great thing to have to do some solo jamming with. Good fun.

i had the first boss rt20 (?). good pratice tool but sound quality live wasn't that great. i'm still looking;also gonna go check-out the Jamman. might be the thing

The Jamman is what I have as well. It is my best friend.

It plays rhythm and never gets tired or complains.

What I really like about it is that you can put in a 2 gig card and store 99 tracks. I have several cards filled. I download backing tracks or make my own. It's fantastic.
