Kindfest Organization

O.K. guys-
I discussed this idea with my friend Will, who's family own private land just south of buffalo outside of fredonia. He has given me a tentative yes in regards to this idea. It would have to be just for us and our friends. Since it is on private land, we would not require permits. There are hiking trials and woods all around us, and we can play all night long until the weee hours of the morning. We would not have to pay more the three or four hundred dollars for the rental of the land, and there is enough power that we can draw off of the house, thus eliminating genorators. If we can all agree on this site- there is a very distinct possibility of this really happening. The only other thing i would suggest is that we rent some sort of tent for the stage in case it rains. other than that we just need commitments. As the buffalo liazon to rukind, i would be more than willing to get the ball rolling in the right direction, and organize a kindfest committee. Furthermore, if this goes off well, Will has assured me that we could make this a yearly thing. I ahve narrowed down the first and second weekend in august, either:
Aug. 8,9, & 10
Fri, SAT, and Sun
Aug. 15,16, & 17

These dates would give us all about three months to plan this thing.

Who is in?

A quick two cents.....there's prolly a lot of all GD-based things going on the weekend of 8/9 given that's "the day" that ended it all.....
Maybe the 16th is best.

I will plan to come up if it happens. Can't vouch for the rest of the band, but, I'm in for sure. MT

I can help with the organization too. As I know candyman doesn't have his full band together yet, I know my band could help serve as the local "host band" for the sit in jams and what not.
I'm also friends with some of the other local jam bands if we need to fill the schedule a bit more.

One thing we might want to do is figure out who's going to be involved and do some kind of open forum discussion in real time. have a virtual meeting if you will.

I'll definitely be down for going if there's one next year. Making it an annual event would be kinda cool. Maybe different places each year? There's so much going on that's already planned in July/August I'm not sure I can afford any more time off. Something else that should be considered is how many people to expect. August isn't that far away and I don't know how many other folks have to plan stuff way ahead, but I know some do. Just my opinion so don't beat me up, but if this were planned for next year and planned well, we could really have a hell of an event. And we would all learn a thing or two as far as planning more for the future. It could become something to look forward to every year.
On a side note, it would also be cool to start doing small regional get togethers. I know several head-friendly bars in my own area that we could hold jams at every month or two. We could really become like a Rukind players guild of some kind. I mean, I know we're already a fan club in a way but organizing and getting together frequently would take us to the next level. A different chapter in each region, and a national gatthering once maybe twice a year. Am I going too far here or does it actually sound half cool?

Yeah- I wouldn't want my band to be the host band, but we will be fully organized for sure, and we would surely want to play a set or two. But the idea of a host band sounds cool and i think yours, as an improvisational band, spilly, would be good.

Yes, i think we should try and organize a real-time thread for for an organizatuional meeting. I think we should do it Monday at 7 P.M. Eastern Time. We could get things sorted out, and by that time i should have a confirmation from my buddy will.

BTW, I went to school at Alfred (some many years ago) that is about an hour and a half from Buffalo. On a decent track of land, we would bother anybody....
