"The River Song" -Ratdog
i saw this... thing... performed as an encore instead of franklin's tower at the warfield and i thought it would be a one time thing.... but apparently it happened again.
i remember there were plenty of heads furious with this at the warfield and just walked out at the encore.
i feel jerry rolling around in his grave (he doesn't have a grave), when his music is being rapped over like that.

I like it.
Flat out, I'm not playing around. I really do. It's groovy, open your minds. explore new territory.
You go Bob

It's not that it offends my sensibilities or that I couldn't like it... but it's just a noisy mess with nothing holding it together.
Anyway, just an opinion.. and we know what they're like.

it's not a matter of "opening your mind".
it's just what genres sound good together to people, and to me rap over a dead tune doesn't sound good.
don't get me wrong, i love rap, good rap, del the funkee homosapien, MF Doom, Hieroglyphics. i'll listen to artists as such if i wanted to see rap, i don't want to see it when i'm seeing ratdog. + i'd WAY rather hear franklin's, and that song to me is like i'm being jacked a franklin's!
anyway if it floats your boat i'm glad, catch some ratdog shows, you may score one.

i saw this a the beacon too, the rappers performed with alphabet soup for the after show. Now I like hip hop, but this was just BAD! the next night a few of us were talking about how bad it was and someone told us that one of the rappers was right next to us (LOL)

I dont think it is too bad, Next to "My Adidas" it is probably one of the only 'rap' songs I would purposly listen to again

Don't be so sure.....Jerry was into lots of stuff......I've heard disco was among them.
I kinda liked it. And I also really dug that Book of Rules.

So I guess it's mildly interesting though I don't dig the monotone shouting style of rap/hip hop. Don't own a byte of either.
Now if I were at a show (got tix for ABB & Ratdog at Jones Beach) and they played Franklins Tower AND this it wouldn't be too bad. If they only played this I wouldn't be happy.

I usually hate that stuff but i kinda liked it. I think its hilarious when every one always compares one of the band members to that bandmember 30 years ago. Things change, people change, and i am positive that they hate being compared to theirselves in the GD. And how fucking rude can you be to walk out? seriously

Rude?? If you dont enjoy what you're seeing, why NOT leave? Ive left mid way thru shows because I just was not feelin it that night, whether it be the band, the crowd or just me
