Are playing custom built Savage amps now too
Savage Audio MACHT 6
This was originally a combo. My buddy who I bought the amp from had the chassis removed from the combo (1x12) and had it installed in a head box for use with a 2x10 cab. I just bought the head and the original combo cab. This is only 6 watts. Sounds so nice and loud for 6 watts.

The guy I bought it from is friend with the owner of Savage Audio (In Savage MN. I live in Minneapolis MN). Bobby and Mark Karan stopped by the shop about a month ago to pick up a few custom Savage amps when they were in town on Rat Dog tour.

One thing that this amp is lacking in reverb. Anyone use a external reverb unit that they would recommend?

What configuration? Pedal or rack or unit?
Rack = Peavey ValVerb
Pedal = Holy Grail
Unit = Fender Reverb RI
All my opinions of course

Between the Holy Grail and the Fender Reverb RI. Does the Holy Grail come close to the fender tube reverb unit?

My favorite on the list is the ValVerb. I own one and love it! You get tube driven tremolo & reverb! It's so rich! Plus the reverb has a tonestack so you can fine tune!
I have very limited experience with the HG & RI. However, the HG sounded decent but didn't really do anything for me - but lots of guys love it! The RI sounded great! But it's a box so be ready for it.
Personally, I'd advise the VV cuz you can toss it into a rack with a power conditioner and be sitting pretty! Get a 4 U rack and you can even store your cables and stuff in the empty slots!

Ive heard people talk good about the holy grail reverb but I couldn't even use it.
way to noisy. Had this hiss that was pronounced. so I figured mine was defective and brought it back for a new one. The next one was even worse, same hiss, only louder.
This daddy's had 5 in stock and they all had the hiss. He tried telling me they were suppposed to sound like that to recreate a tube amp.
I got my money back and am still trying to find an acceptable reverb unit that acutally sounds like a reverb tank on a fender amp, well close at least.
strummin, what is that fender RI you are talking about? Are those the reverb units on ebay sometimes that look like a small fender amp? Do they work good? Have u ever used one?
Is there any way to use a reverb tank form an old amp as your reverb unit? They just have one wire going in and one going out. Seems like it shouldn't be impossible to do.

I've never been able to get the Grail to work in the signal chain (I dont have a FX bypass).
When I place it last in the chain it cuts the volume way too much.
