This show is hot (as we all know) and in it I notice this funky walk up, then walk down jam they do. The cool thing about this is that after it, they go back into the main riff of the song to bring it back home.

Does anyone know what chords are played here?

I wanted to do Jerry's intro lick for this version, then I'll try what you're looking for.

I bend the 5 on the G (5b) cause neither the 5 or the 6 sounds right. An "awakening" third sounds about right.

This is very much open to comments and criticism. The naming of the shapes and the shapes themselves may be wrong, but this is how I here this progression:

When you say repeat 8 times, do you mean just the F or the the whole run.
I think in the 5/8/77 version they hang on that F for 8 and then do a little Ab~Bb Ab kick at the end of the phrase. I think its different in other versions.

Yea, sorry for the lack of clarity. It's just the F that gets the 8.

at the end of the day its about the performance. i agree that the jams in this song are quite awesome....only the dead could have taken this song to that level.
