Grateful Dead Music Forum

Well, I've had a few Country Rock gigs on Pedal Steel this year (usually includes a coupla Dead tunes), but looks like this Sunday will be my 1st pure Dead Head gig of '08.

From the band leader:

Sunday, March 16th, the Garcia Birthday Band is doing a video shoot for Comcast's "Recycled Music!" This is a wonderful opportunity for the band as well as our fans of ALL AGES! This is the chance for families to come out and be part of this event... We will play better if you're there....

We will play two 30 minute segments beginning at 5:30 p.m. and we are asking fans to show up by 5 p.m. The studio is at Portland Community Media, 2766 N.E. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. Please come early and dressed for posterity!

We're pulling out the full band for this, featuring:

Peter (Steely Pete) Burak - Pedal Steel Wizardry and vocals
Travers Kiley - keyboard maestro and sweet-a** vocals
Scraff Orser - guitar shredness and vocals
Scott Gillan - supa'-dank bassman and vocals
Lou Lozada - My drum god returns from hiatus!
Chaz Holmes - Bonus Drum Master
And of course, me, doing what ever it is I try to do....

Looks like a fun day:

1:00-3:00pm stage, lights, setup
1:30pm load in for band.
2-3pm setup up for band (The stage setup will be done but lighting
happens at same time for obvious reasons)
3:30-4:00 Sound check
4:00-5:00 Studio review and setup. Break for most band members if all
is going well.
5:00-5:30 Fans arrive and get setup
5:30-6:00 First half-hour shoot
6:00-6:15 Break (studio work for us)
6:30-7:00 Second half-hour shoot
7:00-8:00 Watch back show while cleaning up studio
8:00- Go across street to bar and have a few drinks.
