Yup, you read the title right. I just went over to Speedingarrow to download but I found everything gone, so I went and read the forum and it said that Rhino had asked Zephyr (Site founder) to take everything down. Everything: forum included. It goes down tonight. Zephyr even said Rhino unleashed it's lawyers on him. Bastards. Their not getting another penny of my money. What are we supposed to do? Rhino hasn't released any good Dead music at all! All that's come out are those rotten "Road Trips" CD's. Bastards. Money grubbing bastards. Well I'll end my rant here. Peace. P.S. If any of you Rhino bastards read this I hope you burn in Hell.

Yeah, I found that now even the forum is gone. I loved that forum! We need to find each other and start a new forum, even if we can't download files. Anyway, TheStoryteller is right here. Where are all the other posters (give your SpeedingArrow name)?

I don't know why they wanted the forum taken down either, but we'd better hope and pray RUKind isn't taken down because the free tabs reduce the amount of money Alfred Publishing makes on the crummy Dead tab books they put out. You know what sucks even more... I just bought Two From The Vault online yesterday.

I think this site may want to take the private route and try and protect what is here. what is here is simply interpretations of what fans hear and understand as being what the music is....free speach, right?
I'm all for a login and pass word to enter the site...keeps Big Brother out...

I always thought that the tabs and chords for various songs were contributed by members of this site. I tend to regard them as personal opinions of common riffs, which most of the time have been perfected. I am sure some of the basics for some of the songs were picked up from published chord books but come on, I think the work that has been done here is OURS. Just look at all the honest discussion in the song forums over theory and what should be the right chord here or there and/or variations on licks. This is our work and we should be allowed to keep it and share it for free.

As for SppedingArrow.Net, I am truly sad that I only recently discovered the site. I acquired maybe a dozen new soundboards so thats good but there was so much to tap into! I can't believe they are taking down music the majority of which will never be put out by Ice Nine... I am sure the people with money would buy the official releases for remastering and liner notes and what not even if they had a bootleg. As for broke college students, well for us music should be free

WOW.. I just filled a 200gb w/a handful of my favorite years and all of jerry's stuff.. Literally, i finished 2 days ago, I've had the drive for over a year and i only just did it, figuring i'm gonna be bummed if it's gone.
I don't begrudge anyone from making a dime. But in the past it was nice knowing the dead didn't feel the need to shake every penny they could out of their fan's pockets.Since there is no band anymore bringing in record amounts from touring, I guess they saw the sale of the catalog and any future sales as a way to keep an income stream. The fact that through the years they were so financially unmotivated and really shared and spread the $ around that as soon as that touring income stopped coming in the enormous overhead of GD collapsed atop itself.
I don't agree, but I see it as they gave us a lot through the years. I'm sure (or hope)the decisions they have made were tough and simply had to be done.
In the past the "bootleg" community is what brought new fans to concerts, but since there are no more 70,000 seat summer tours I guess a restructure of the business model was necessary. Slowly but surely the good ol' days are becoming a distant memory. sux.. joe

speedingarrow forums was one of the great havens on the internet. I was relatively new but it was clear the entire site was a devotion of integrity and passion; not sure why anyone would want to kill those discussions.
Zephyr, thank you for all you did and how you put it together. Hope to run across you, ahopkins, mindbender et. al. out here somewhere. Keep me posted I'd love to contribute.

I'm so irked at Rhino right now, ,I could spout off about them for many paragraphs, but I'll refrain. This is truly depressing.
