Me and a friend just recently started workin on a project together. Ive never been in a band and still have doubts that im anyyywhere near good enough. But anyways its like a Reggae experimental sorta thing. This was a first take seeing as the drums are from a drum machine and we spent a good 4 hours doin the drums. So by the time we finished we were too tired to give a crap lol. But this is just the intro of a song. After that breakdown there will be some vox then some jammin maybe and so on. This is far from finished but what do you guys think? Decent? trash? I just hope I can pull off a nice lead on this one.
It would help if I put the link to the song in here hahaha.

I suggest you convert it to an MP3 so the file size become compressed and more downloadable. 27meg is kinda huge

i found the file easy to find and download.
sounds pretty cool, nice vibe. you may want to consider writing a melody to go over it, without one its kind of incomplete.

So any suggestions as to where this could go from here? The chords so far are C Am Em. I use G as a passing note from Em back to C. Im not sure what chords would sound good for a chorus.. or maybe a bridge.

How about Dm-E hold each for 4 beats 2x and then F-C-G-Am-F-C-G hold the last G for 4 beats then back to C-Am-Em-G

Yea , I just played along with you for a bit to get the vibe then fooled around with some different stuff to see what seemed to go. I saw that the F was gonna be a good addition so I came up with the F C G Am thing first. Seemed like a nice complement to your line. Then I found the Dm E thing while thinking in 'bridge' mode and then put them together.
Next challenge is a good melody!

The song is nearly identical to a song by 311 called Amber.

Dont tell me these things lol. My friend said it sounded like somethin else. But the way I see it is, First off there are tons of songs that sound just like another. Second, Once the lyrics are in place, which will be heavy on the reggae tone, I highly doubt it'd sound anything like 311. Not to mention once the lead guitar is in place also. Still tryin to work out that melody. I had one but it seemed a little too dull.
Ill post that clip of your bridge tonight or tomorrow Bill. Im gonna play it through just strummin then Im gonna play it through arpeggiating. My friend absolutely hates the arpeggio version but whatever. I think it sounds better. Well let me know what you think when it gets here.

W/ my addition? Cuz if so that's really weird as I've barely even heard of 311 and never heard their music!...as far as I know.
Go for it blob - I'm curious as to how it's gonna sound.

Bill,
Didnt hear it with your change, but it could be just what is needed to change it up and make it not like anything done before. BTW, I love that song by 311. It has a very Jerry guitar melody, which is out of character of the band..
