I recently purchased a Traynor Custom Valve YCV20WR

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/ ... sku=480980

It’s has a jack on the back were you can hook up an extension cab with the option to kill the internal speaker or not. I have an old SS Yorkville combo that also has a 12’ celestion speaker (same as the ycv20). If I were to disconnect the speaker and wire it up to an ¼” female jack would it work as an extension cab or is there more to it from a wiring standpoint? Any help would be appreciated.

Yup that's all you need to do. Worked for me. As long as you use quality materials, you shouldn't have any problems.

Does the new amp have a suggested load?

Not that I can tell the new amp has an 8ohm speaker and the older on has a 4ohm spearker there is no selector switch or anything like that on the amp. The optional swich dosent give any setting choices just enables you to kill the internal speaker or not

Sorry. Guess I failed to mention that the impedance should match. My bad.
