Anyone own one of these? American strat with a nitro finish and the cool 70s headstock for less than $800. I don't really like the flat satin finish but I have read/seen many that have been buffed out to a gloss. I hear you can use Migures car polish to shine it up. The other thing I do not like is the body is routed H/S/H. I want a strat for single coil tone and I doubt i would ever put humbuckers in it. I dont know how much the removal of the extra wood for the H/S/H routing would take away from the tone?????? My ideal Strat is the 1962 RI which has the glossy nitro, S/S/S routing and vintage pickups but I am not feeling like paying $1450 for a strat. What does Rukind think?

Cool.. That is a great price on the Daphne blue. $150 cheaper than any other site I have checked. The rest of the finishes are the same price as everyone else. It does have S/S/S pickups but the body is routed H/S/H. Have you purchased from Samash.com before? if so were they good to deal with?

I have a Fender Highway 1 Telecaster . . . so I cant comment too much. But I love the finish. Mine is a nice honey blonde transparent finish, nice and glossy and you can see the woodgrain through it.

I deal with my local stores (ie. Chicago area)
I do maintenance on these stores, so I am in them all the time.
Their prices are good and they price match,or price beat.
They have stores all over the country so you may be able to find one near you.

It came with a nitro gloss finish, or did you buff it out to a gloss?

CaptainTrips, that is a really sweet guitar. I would love to own a tele or a strat eventually. my epi LP just can't fulfill the urge i have to play some really twangy music. plus, i went to a sweet party one time and this guy was really funking out on his tele. he had it hooked up to a wah and was just playing the most funky rhythms on it. but it wasnt thick and meaty like a lot of funk music. it had that quality you can only really get on fenders... kind of like a very easy to manipulate, light touch kind of feeling.

btw, that tele looks quite beefy. the body and neck look a bit thicker than normal. is it just my eyes or are the highway 1's different from the standard versions in that respect?

The main difference between the Highway 1 and a Standard is the type of finished used. Most fenders use a Polyurethane finish but the Highway1 model is Satin Polyurethane. Which doesnt have the same glow that a standard does but can be spruced up if you want. Ive done some minor polishing thats really all.

One thing that I noticed when I went to look at Tele's before I bought this is that the Standards had all sort of ergonomic curves and cutaways, whereas the Highway1 is pretty much just a big slab of wood. Its definitely a real sturdy guitar. There more contours on a Standard.

And you cant beat the twangy sound of the Telecaster. I love just throwing it up to neck pup and playing some real jazzy sounding leads and fills. Good stuff.

Sounds good to me. Im not very well versed on things like this, I just pulled a quote from a website with some reviews . . .

well, in fact I just picked one of these up this past November. Mine is an 07 HSS. I found this used at Elderly Instruments (www.elderly.com, they have a slew of guitars, especially vintage) in Lansing for $550. I think it was bought as a gift and never played. All the clear cellophane and stickers were still on it as well as the owners manuial still sealed in the bag.
The HSS is part why I went with this one. I was lookin at an American HSS, but hey this one is American made, and was $500 less. I plan on replacing the two single coils with noisless cobalts in the future, but this guitar is simply great the way it is. I'm very happy. I believe I got great deal.

I was wondering if anyone has a problem with extreme buzzing in the amp with the pickup switch in the neck or middle positions? It's weird, I have this problem with my new Highwayone guitar. if the guitar sets vertical on the stand, the buzzing goes to an acceptable level, but as soon as I pick it up, the buzzing begins, real annoying. any expierience or advice? (mine is an hss) thanks!

I pulled the trigger a few weeks ago.



I love this axe. I will be upgrading the pickups soon.
