Taking a guitar and making it look old is nothing new. When vintage prices went skyward some customers would ask if I could make a replica of their vintage ax. Since Nash guitars have done so well all these idiots are trying to make money on Ebay by selling "vintage look alike" parts and guitars. They claim that they spent hours and used special methods. Most of the guitars are a joke because they have little guitar know how to begin with. Anyway I thought I would let my friends know that if you need to age a part simply suspend it in an airtight plastic container with an inch or so of muriatic or hydrochloric acid in the bottom and let sit for 10 to 24 hours depending on how aged you want it to look. you can buy a lifetime supply of muriatic acid at home depot for five bucks. For an airtight plastic container those new plastic coffee containers are perfect.If I can keep at least one person from paying 90 bucks for a 40 bridge I will be happy. Peace David

Why would anyone try to make something look vintage??

I'm confused. I like my stuff to look new after years of love.

I don't quite understand either. Its like buying a pair of brand new jeans that come faded with holes in them already. But, on the other hand I guess some people just go for the "Retro" look.

A lot of builders used to make guitars look old because a customer wanted a replica of their costly vintage guitar to play out.Now Its just a fad
