ive had a boss gt 8 for some time now and never really use it, i play mostly bluegrass but want to get back into playing electric. i have no idea how to make cool effects though. does anyone know how to make any dead/phish/allman bros sounding effects on it, if so please let me know.

The FX on the GT8 are just like the regular boss stomps.

Figure out which FX your guitar heros used and set them into you GT8.

For Phish you'll want to use overdrive, compression/sustain, wah, delay/echo, flanger, octave, and any loops might be helpful (of course not all of these at once). For the Dead, you can pretty much run the gamut on FX, but especially an envelope filter/auto wah, a little overdrive or distortion maybe, and certainly delay/echo, among others. Don't play much ABB, so can't say there.
