Hey Now,
anybody here use one of these???
My wife said she would get me one for my birthday 8) last week.....so I'm wondering about some feed back from you guys.......it seems to have the ability to model a whole lot of different sounds.......my friend has one and is just figuring it out ,,,, would I be naive in assuming that I could use it to get what ever sound I wanted without buying all the different gear and rigs that I have been checking out that a lot of you guys have...ie all the different Bobby rigs,,,,.....once I figured it out would I be able to get Jerry or Bob;s sound and tone with out having to get other gear...
thanks to all for your input and thoughts

Pistol

I have one and used one for many years...

Compared to a vintage tube amp and in an ideal setup you will get 90% of tone & 50% of feel.

By ideal I mean thru a PA that you have access to at gig level volumes to setup your patches.

The box has limitations on how many FX you can have at once.

I can't use it any more cuz I feel it zaps my dynamics.

But you should try it out for yourself - you may like it!

Hey Pistol...
Santa brought one to 'ol Phil this year... I must have been a good boy...

I am still in the tweaking stages myself. One thing I did.... I picked up an a-b box. I have grown so used to "What I know" from my set-up I have had for years that I am still in withdrawals. I have the guitar hitting the A-B with A going to the XT and the B hitting my "Old" set up.

I guess in a way I have one toe in the water and not sure if I want to dive in.... Strummin' is on the mark with the limitations. I think my next step will be to throw some of my "Old" gear in line with the XT. I know I will look more like Sammy Davis Junior doing a tap-dance rather than a guitarist, but what do I care. As mentioned by me many many many times before. I have a SRO show every night... in my studio / guitar room / painting room.

PM me and let's keep the dialog open. I would love to know what you learn and I will respond in kind.
PEACE,
Phil

EDIT:
I have not figured it out yet... but I am sure there is someway (Other than the Line6 site) to trade "Set-ups". I'll dig into that as well. Perhaps we can share.

When I play the XT Live I do not get the same feel as a tube amp.

It doesn't react the the subtlties of playing - not touch sensitive.

I think it depends on what you are used to and what you need it for.

If I were in a classic rock cover band I'd like it a whole lot more.

I have one and would say for someone who mainly plays electric in a house setting by themself or with a few friends then it is a great device as you a whole range of sounds out of one device. It also allows you to play at a low volume and get decent effects and sustain. This is helpful for some recording setups and also for playing along with acoustic players. The other advantage is that you can plug the pod into you home stero setup and get the good low volume sound out of your electric through your stereo system without blowing out your speakers or your neighbors. If you are giging reguarly with a band then the pod is probably not the way to go. I don't think you will be able to get Jerry or Bobby's tone out of one but you might get something close enough that will sound great to your ear somedays and sound like shit others. Not sure why but that has been my experience.

I have had a pod since they first came out and now have the xt live for almost three years. It took me a long time to dial it in but I still wont use it out live.I have it hooked up to my computer just to mess around at home.I just have a feeling it would break from alot of road use and what ya gonna back up with?As far as getting jerry tones I still havent figured it out and I havent found anyone on the user group site that has either, plus your limited to how many effects you can use at once. But dont let me stop you from buying it.Its definately a great tool to have at home to use with headphones and your computer.
