For anyone that has the time and money, I'd recommend looking into this. Unfortunately I have yet to attend, but just looking at the classes offered and the instructors that offer them is enough for me to want to go. Looks like it would be a great time and could learn so much. Either way, worth a look

Jorma's place is mind blowing. I live close by and have been to many shows at the ranch (Peter Rowan, John Cowan Band, Fareed Haque, Hot Tuna...) and it is always a great time. Very intimate shows. I haven't been to any of the workshops, but I hear they are great (if you can afford them). Warren Haynes is doing a week long session and then a show in september of '08, so i'll see y'all there. peace

I had two amazing experiences there. Both times I took Jorma's class though the second time I went with a friend of mine who took Merl Saunders' keys class, this was right before Merl got sick. I brought my electric up along with my amp and had it set up in the keys' class area. I talked to Jorma about me splitting time between the two classes and he was totally cool with it as was Merl to have me in the keys class. We had the time of our life. My friend and I took Merl out to town the last night for some pre season football (he is a huge Niners fan) and I have to say Merl was about the nicest guy I have ever met. Nothing better than he and I ripping Keepers for about 10 minutes straight after his class one day.

The place is magical, if you have the coin, definitely do it and make sure you sign up early as the classes fill up very very fast.

man, thats great that you had a chance to do that. but as you said, its a bit on the pricey side, so hopefully in the not too distant future i'll be able to put something together

I had the most amazing time at Fur Peace this past spring...I took class with Jack Casady, and along with Phil, they are my fav bass players..what a trip to sit and hang and learn with Jack..and of course there was time to meet and hang with Jorma too...the highlight was playing on stage with one of Jorma's students, doing the Hot Tuna version of Rider..singing and playing the tune with Jack and Jorma sitting a few feet away, a little nervous but I did OK..one of the other folks recorded it, and it now one of my most treasured recordings..if you got the cash go to fur peace my friend you won't regret it..

also got Jack to sign my new custom bass, wish I had a pic of Jack playing it, he wanted to check it out and played it for a while in one of our sessions..so so cool..there are some pics from fur peace on our website
