i know most of you dont like em but for reasons too longwinded to explain right now a loop pedals my only choice. i've heard about some sort of midi technology that will auto synch the pedal with drums. i'm getting desperate now because it's so hard to get a perfect loop. anyone have any suggestions???

I heard that if you eat one of Keller Williams' fingers that will give you looping super power.

my need is for a machine to function as the perfect rythm player (yeah major d'oh there)

just one loop, i can get simple loops like bertha and things like that, but franklins tower is giving me a major headache.

dunno what ya mean by how many seconds, but typically i'm off by miliseconds making it very hard for me to improve, improving on an area where you're off by mili anything is pretty much up to fate

I use a Boss RC-20XL loop station..Easy to use, isn't a huge tone sucker (even though not a true bypass pedal), it's got 16mins of recording time.
I use it more as a practice tool, I'll run some rhythm sections through it and practice soloing over it. Once I'm able to get all my levels matched I've gotten some pretty neat sounding jams going with it.

Dude, I got the perfect solution. What Ive been doin is taking my Digitech Jamman loop pedal and I make a track with a nifty little program called guitar pro, http://www.guitar-pro.com/en/index.php. You can put together all sorts of cool midi backings that are totally in time. You can even layer percussion, bass, horns whatever you want. Then you get a 1/8 plug to 1/8 plug chord, from a place like radio shack and plug it into the looper pedal . . . assuming your pedal has a aux input . . . I dunno what kind of pedal you have but the JAMMAN does. Record it onto there and presto, you are all set.

I second the digitech jamman. It is very versitile and it records on to a compact flash card. I have a 2 gig card and it can record hours of music.

It will come in handy well into the future after this project of yours.

Here is something I recorded using only the jamman in literally 15 minutes from start to finish. Rythm track and lead, if I had a bass it would have taken just 3 more minutes etc. That includes taking the card out and uploading to the web.

By the way, i know that it needs a lot of work but I am not a good player and I only did one take. I just wanted to show how easy it can be using the jamman.

the jamman slightly used will go for about $200 on ebay not much more than the boss.

Ordered both the Boss RC-20XL and the DigiTech Jam Man, so I'll A/B the two and one gets sent back.

2008 is going to be a breakthrough year for me as with this looping I'm going to definitely explore and understand playing "inside" and "outside" the keys.

I A/B-ed the two loopers and the RC-20XL got shipped back and I kept the Jam Man.

They were close in comparison.

I kept the Jam Man because I like to see the loop track illuminated, it can store much more memory if you upgrade to more FLASH, you can store up to 99 different loops, and I liked the ease of the USB port to transfer to your computer.

The RC-20XL had reverse loop as a feature, but I didn't need that. A battery capability, but they're AA size and you need like six or eight of them and I figured I'd never go that route, so unnecessary.
