You Guys Can Feel My Pain On This One, I'm Sure

I am, once again, shocked at the way people treat each other. I awoke today like any normal day. Grabbed a cup of coffee and walked the wife out to the car to see her off to work when we noticed our ipod missing out of the car. Realizing we've been robbed, I looked in our other car where I had my Dead CD book, or I should say where it used to be. The assholes made off with all of my Dick's Picks and every other piece of Grateful Dead I bought with my hard earned dollars.
When our neighbor stepped out I told her what happened and upon inspection of her vehicles found she was missing speakers and some CDs.
Not that this compares to any war, mall shooting, or How the Grinch Stole Christmas but I am severly pissed off. This is the kind of shit that separates us from the animals. We are an evil species sometimes.
A hard lesson about where to keep my Dead collection at night when I get one again. Thanks for letting me blow off a little steam.

That fucking sucks. Chances are if its all Dead stuff though, and your thief isnt a deadhead you'll be able to find it in a local pawnshop. Call up a few today, tell them if they get a cd book case of grateful dead stuff coming in to hold it and give you a call. Same with any used CD stores around.
Not to preach, but you can't be too careful about that shit. I recomend taking the time to burn all of your cds that you want in your car, and then only keep the copies outside. I have a cd wallet of 200 disks in my car, and if it would get stolen, I'd only really be out maybe 25$ in blank disks. Plus they might see that they're burnt and not even bother taking them!

That sucks man, sorry to hear it. I still am amazed that someone would even bother breaking into a car for some cd's. Resale value is almost worthless. The ipod is a hot item though.

I am assuming you didnt lock your cars. My car was stolen out of my driveway one night over the summer.
I know how you feel. It is a violation of a very personal nature.

i lock my doors everytime i get out of the car. i lock my car when i go into the station to pay for gas. i'm a fanatic about locking my car, putting on the alarm everytime i get out. a few days ago i was going to my car and the alarm was going off, some jerk had hit the car and drove off with no note

Definitely sucks. My car got stolen last year and was found "post-joyride" full of dvd wrappers, blunt guts, whippet chargers, and empty coke bags....none of which were mine(seriously!). They had ripped out my console and steering column...AAH!...Really sorry to hear about that, man. If you need anything, (burnt discs or anything), let me/us know. We can only help so much, but, hey, we're all friends, aren't we?

Our neighbor, who had her speakers stolen, told me that her boyfriend recently lost his job and has been on a 3 wk crack binge. So, we have a prime suspect.
Thanks for the advice guys, I called all the pawn shops who now have an eye out for this stuff. I also have a police report with the dollar value on it in case something does turn up.

Total sympathy. I had my entire GD collection, 2x200 CD books slolen out of my car a couple years back. Most of it downloaded SB stuff that I'd literally spent years researching collecting. Then Bobby decided to stop the online stuff. Asshole.
The good news: guy in my band has a buddy with a 400 Gig external HD with nothing but the Dead.

Some prick stole a stone out of our garden and chucked it through my sisters window, obliterating her stash compartment, stealing her purse, checkbook, ATM card, goodies in her purse, and then it snowed that night.
