Football Lyrics

Can anyone shed some light on Unbroken Chain?
Me and my buddy have a bet about the lyrics.
I say the line "Roll you down the line, drop you for a loss." refers to a running back trying to bounce it outside but ends up losing yards.
Also the line "November and more as we wait for the score" refers to the fact that in the 70s there was no ESPN to find out football scores or BCS standings,so you had to wait for the info on the evening news?
Huh Huh?
:thewave: <-------- go team go!

I read this as just a turn of phrase popular in the days of yesteryear.

Harvest weed? HARVEST WEED!
Alright that could explain that line of the song, but I still think the other line is a football thing.

I don't know. Drop you for a loss....I think that just means something that set you back in some way. Roll you down the line....as reference, I would mention Gerry Rafferty's "Right Down The Line", which meant all the way, in every way. Now, if you think of the term "Roll You" as getting mugged or robbed, I think it all comes together.

I would have to agree with ebick, it is just a referance to something bad happening. some sort of deterant to your progress

Temple U !
Yeah I meant back in the day you had to wait and wait for scores and such.
I think you guys are right.
Topic came up during a game so it seemed to make sense to me.
Must have been the Guinness talking. :drink:

The boys were pretty big fans of the 49'ers, but I highly doubt this song has anything to do with football. Never did that come across my mind, interesting idea, but i think its more metaphorical, about life, that sort of thing.

Not about football but using a football metaphor?
Yeah its weak, I know.
