Does anyone here have a MC400/500 that has NOT Jerry rigged it? If so, I'd love to hear your take on what the sweet spot is for the coil-taps using the EQ boost (seems to me the only way to really get a consistent signal down the line). I've only had mine for a week, and I get great overdrive in HB mode w/the EQ, but am finding the single-coil sound elusive. I may swap out the super88's for a couple of Barden TwoTones, but I do not want to cut into the guitar, as I think that is probably not necessary for what I'm looking for (I don't need to sound exactly like Jerry, but do want a broader range of tonal possibilities).

Thx for any feedback!

I had one, the MC500. Never liked the guitar. Gave it to my niece, who is around 10 years old, just last Christmas. (She can play Blackbird!)

I never had it set up, and I never liked the jumbo frets. The only sound I liked was with both pick ups on, and definitely in phase. But when I got the guitar new, it was my "baby." Heavy as a mother, though. Felt like I was caddying one of those heavy golf bags from the movie Caddyshack.
