I saw something today that at 530 times played not fade away was the 7th most played song by the dead, and i was wondering if anyone knew what the most often played tune was.

Besides drums/space, Me & My Uncle tops the list. Previously asked/answered is here (with Top 5):

where did you find those numbers nick?

I have heard and read in a few places that Me and My Uncle was most played.


just speculating here, but your list might include songs more than once in the same show. that would explain why TOO, Playin, and NFA are so high on the list.

IKYR was around before CCS and CCS
wasn't played that long without IKYR

I'm surprised their # is the same..

I have not seen one for a while, but what I remember the Deadbase books have counts of songs played. I thought Other Ones was #1, but sounds like it is not. Site is cool anyway.

ive just discovered china cat, wasn ALWAYS played before IKYR look 01/17/68 03/17/68 08/30/68 04/05/69 and there are mor, so is just magic, their number is the samee

I always thought it was Me and My Uncle.

As a seperate thought, what do you guys think the most played Dead song by a Dead cover band is????

Yeah those numbers are probably not right. I remember reading maybe in the big Dead book that it was Me and My Uncle in the lead with I wanna say 636 times. nicolask CCS was played a bunch of times without IKYR. But Id still doubt that the number fell on the same amount of times like that. Who knows though.

setlists.net gives those stats....i'd have to think its pretty close but def. playin is at the top...thesloth where'd you get your number????
