i dont really listen to the dead's dylan covers, but, i love the JGB covers. Forever and tangled up in blue are soooo good when jerry does them, i get goose bumps.

I love them! Primarily cuz I hate Dylan's gimmicky voice but love his poetry so it's wonderful to hear those beautiful words sung!

I love the Dylan covers, I mean come on Masterpiece, Desolation Row, Queen Jane All great tunes (granted Bobby sings these most the time and his voice isn't as suited to dylan as Jerrys).
But the tunes Jerry Band covers were more the ballads, which are always recieved a little better

How could you not love It's all over now Baby Blue? I mean that is the top of the iceberg so to speak, but their adaptations of Dylan are right on. Even something as cliche as Knockin' has it's place, granted it was not that exciting to see, but only because I wanted somtehting else. But hell Dylan wrote so many songs that "Rock my Soul" how could the Grateful Dead not tip their collective hat to the man from Minnesota?

ok baby blue i make an exception for i do really like that cover, but i happen to like dylans versions, and i know its abnormal as most heads i know really dig the dylan stuff, i just find it to be rather uninspired as a whole. There are so many dead songs I like soooo much more than there dylan covers, it seems to me they started doing dylan all the time in like what the early 90s? Way too much imo, and well boring to me.

Really?! I've got 8-10 JGB shows with him singing it and I miss Bobby each time. Jerry always seems a bit whinny in that song. Plus JGB doesn't do the key change. And there is not build up intro, etc... JGB seems bland in comparison.
I'd rank them
Weir
Garcia
Dylan
