Anyone? Does anyone realise hockey season started 2 weeks ago? No NHL love? I know I haven't been as enamoured with hockey this season. Moving to CO fucked up my timezones, so now Flyers games start at 5pm (which is way to early for me to sneak out of work and get home). Plus coming off of last year's disastrous Flyers season, the love for the orange and black is a bit tarnished at the moment. Glad to see they're still able to keep their name in the headlines though. ;) I did watch a bit of some Avs games, but I'm not feeling it yet. Is it just me?

Thank god the NHL is back. Football once a week is not nearly enough. Plus, my season tickets for the Penguins this year are better than last! The Flyers did have quite the disastrous season last year; I think at one point the Pens had nearly half their points from the Flyers!

So my broadway blueshirts are a favorite for the cup this year.

There's the kiss o'death for ya.

We'll still have to stomp those broad st. one time bullies.

Let the games begin!

That's probably one of the things that's been turning me off about hockey (besides them eliminating fighting). The last 3 Cup winners? Tampa Bay, Carolina, Anaheim. That's just wrong. Winners from cities that have little to no history piss me off. Especially in such glorious hotbeds of hockey like fucking Tampa Bay and Raleigh.

Soon after I moved to Montreal a few years ago I was bitten by the hockey bug. I used to watch games with one guy from high school but then I came to Canada and was introduced to hockey as a way of life and I'm not exaggerating, its a way of life, deeply ingrained in the culture and weekly activities. Primarily, drinking beer and watching the game on Hockey Night in Canada!

We've got Don Cherry being the drunk fool wearing custom tuxedos and making offhand commentary to boot. So yeah, I'm fuckin' pumped for this season. My order of fan-hood would have to go Montreal(local), Ottowa (lots of friends from there), and Boston (hometown team). Though Boston hasn't been doing much of anything exciting lately.

Mostly I just watch for the beauty of the sport. Huge dudes barreling around on an ice rink, slapping a puck, beating each other up, all while balancing on thin slats of steel. Simply amazing.

As for the warm-weather teams.... with technology and monetary investments into franchises being what they are, anyone anywhere could assemble a championship hockey team...

good to see lostsailor, huge blackhawk fan here, and i'm real excited about this season. it kind of shows how bad they've been, but still, improvement is improvement. cant wait to see kane and towes, should be awesome. fingers crossed. either way it'll be fun, and the two wins against the red wings feel really great.

Orange and Black....
