Personally I believe that jam band guitarists are the most talented guitarists around today. Who do you think is the best jam band guitarist? Some possible ones I think are:
Jimmy Herring (Widespread Panic)
Derek Trucks (Allman Brothers Band/Derek Trucks Band)
Warren Haynes (Allman Brothers Band/Gov't Mule)
Josh Clark (Tea Leaf Green)
Adam Aijala (Yonder Mountain String Band)
Jake Cinninger (Umphrey's McGee)
Brendan Bayliss (Umphrey's McGee)
......

Warren transcends "jamband".Very well rounded. For some reason Herring and Trucks leave me cold.Ive heard the other guys too.Not a fan. What about Trey?Hes no one trick pony.

Of course Trey, Billy Nershi, and Kimock all deserve to be mentioned. I was just naming a few off the top of my head that I thought deserved recognition.

Hands down it's Warren. The Mule, Allman's and Dead? He can do it all, even solo acoustic. None of the others can touch him on it. I saw a New Year's show a couple years back and the Dead sucked until Warren came out. He is the person responsible for bringing the Allman's back from obscurity and into public eye. He can sing well, and the most important thing, he knows when to play and when to lay back and let others play. He is head and shoulders above the rest. But hey, just my opinion...

There are no bests....

I think Trey, Kimock, and Bobby should be up there. I agree that "the best" is a relative thing.
Theres so many. But as far as jam guitarists being the best--- Jazz is still where its at.

it seems like a lot of people are in agreement that warren would be near the top. i definitely agree. the guy is amazing. he can play with anybody. the dead, the allmans, and mule at the same time?! that's just crazy. and to make all the guest appearances he does with other bands as well.
