Neil's anounced his Chrome Dreams II tour

Dont get me wrong i couldnt have more respect for Neil, but $150 for decent tickets? I dont know if its Neil having something to do with it or just the promoters trying to get the best they can out of Neil.. but something should be done

I agree, that is way too many dollars to see anyone, neil or not.

It's a real shame that the prices are so high, I had heard this a while back.

Sometimes it's good living so far away from most of the action, but then you find other ways in which to spend your money!!

this sucks. i love neil, but as i'm younger i've never had the chance to see him. no matter how much he influenced me and moved me i can't see paying those prices. if dylan can keep prices under 50 bucks why can't he. i had front and center seat for dylan last fall for about $50 and it was a completely enjoyable show

When I read the subject before reading the post, I thought come on it's Neil Young. If you have to pay high prices it would be worth it. I was thinking it was going to be $70 or $75. $150 forget about it.

Some tickets prices are just outrages. I am going to vegas on thursday and I thought about catching Cirque De Soliel set to beatles music.(sorry for the spelling)

It was $165. If I brought my wife plus dinner and parking etc I would drop close to $500.

For the price of one Neil Young ticket you could get some nice guitar gear that would last a lot longer than one night. That being said, I bet he'll sell out the show regardless.

Unfortunately, the trend in general seems to be towards really high ticket prices for established artists. And before we complain about Neil Young personally, I think it's becoming a sink-or-swim situation, and most of us would probably go along with it too, however grudgingly at first.

And $150 is ok if Neil pulls out all the stops, acoustic and electric sets, for like 3+ hours. Don't know how likely that is though...

But seriously it's come down to if they can get it, that's what they'll charge. A lot of neil fans are older, as he is, and thus more 'financially established' and can afford these prices.

Last time I saw him was that greenvale or whatever it was tour. Played about 4 older tunes I liked and maybe I liked one or two greenvale tunes. The rest had me literally almost falling asleep. I guess I'm gettin old.

There's no doubt that Neil stills puts on a better show than most out there, on average he is a far better gig to go to than Dylan in my opinion. I've never seen Neil be anything but right on the money. I've seen Bob clearly not give a shit and hardly look towards the crowd once all night.

Neil is one of only a small few around his age who has been around that long who is still relevant and I can still take seriously.

I just realized that the high ticket prices for shows may be the only way left for the artists to earn money.

The real money is in touring now since the record industry is dead.

I dunno that much about it. But how much control of ticket price is held outside of the promoter. I remember SCI coming out about something similar, right? they had issues with ticketmaster but i guess that was about distribution or anti trust.
I saw Neil back in the 80s it was good but i cannot justify 150$ for it.

I just think when I was 16 or 17 I could afford the 10-15$ it took to get to a good show. Yikes .

True ... but i saw Dylan this summer for 25$, lawn seats at Bethal, and for the most part it was a pretty good show!

as i said before i dont know if its Neil doin it or the promoters...but jeez... my buddy might be able to get me a discount.

As long as demand continues to equal or surpass the supply, the price will continue to rise. Living in the Bay Area, I equate this to (completely off-topic but I think relevant) golf green-fees and real estate prices. Pebble Beach is currently approx. $500 a round to play. My gramps tells me 30-40 years ago, it was $12.50. Looked at a home this weekend: 1000 square feet with no yard, $799,000. Good grief. Demand must still be out there, whether it be golf, real estate, or Neil Young.
