You guys know much about this guy? Clicked on a youtube link of him out of curiousity after watching that Day Tripper link. Boy am I glad I did! Great player, real impressive shit like some bass runs with melody on top. One of those guys who can really make it sound like more than one guitar is going. There's a few good clips on the but I'll leave you with the one that first caught my attention. It's Day Tripper > Lady Madonna, definitely recommend it highly it really blew my mind.

Wow. I'll be taking on that style once I put the finishing touches on my chewing gum while walking mastery.

Yes Tommy Emmanuel is the king of Classical Gas. Or should I say was the king until this one surfaced.

Ill go out on a limb here and say I dont like him. I am impressed by his playing, I guess but I see him as a cheap Chet Atkins rip off.
And many times it sounds like more than one guitar because there is more than one guitar. Usually sitting in the dark and not getting any recognition. Look closely at some of those clips.
Again thats something that Chet did too, but I cant see an Emmanuel video and not help but want to see or hear Chet Atkins.

I don't think Chet feels that way. From Wikipedia:
In July 1999, at the 15th Annual Chet Atkins Appreciation Society Convention, Chet presented Tommy with a Certified Guitar Player award, an honour bestowed on only two other guitarists (besides Atkins himself) - "In Recognition Of His Contributions To The Art Of Fingerpicking".

I don't doubt you about the player in the background. I was trying to figure that out for myself but the clips were coming through a little choppy. While I suspected it, I couldn't really confirm it either.
